Big Sandy, Tenn.–A large crowd gathered in Big Sandy last night for a prayer vigil for the family of Jaylen Christopher, who was drowned in a tragic accident over the weekend.

Jaylen was 16 and was in Arizona when the accident happened.

A large crowd of classmates, family members, ministers, teachers, coaches and community members from Benton, Henry and Carroll Counties were at the prayer vigil and released balloons in Jaylen’s memory. The vigil was held at the Big Sandy gym, where Jaylen was a star basketball player.

Christopher’s mother, Amie Ballard, works at Escape Salon and Spa in Paris. The Spa posted a message on Facebook: “We would like to ask everyone to please pray for our co-worker, our friend, our family member, Amie Ballard as she deals with a devastating loss of her 16 year old son Jaylen. Our thoughts and prayers are with Amie, her husband Joey, daughter Ava, grandmother Joann, and everyone else effected by this tragedy. We love you Amie.”

Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
