Opening Reception For Juneteenth Artist Showcase Set Saturday

Paris, Tenn.–The opening reception for the Juneteenth Artist Showcase will be held from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, June 12 at the Paris Academy for the Arts. The Showcase will remain up at the Paris Academy until after July 4.

Reminder: Artwork should be delivered to the Paris Academy between June 9-11 during open hours. Work should be ready to hang and will remain in the gallery until after July 4th. It is open to all ages.

Artists name, contact info, address and price, if selling, should be listed on a 3×5 card attached to back of piece.

The Showcase is one of two events that highlight the importance of the Juneteenth Celebration to be held in Paris this month.

The Citizens for Education, Elevation and Empowerment will also hold a Black History Poster Contest.

For the Black History Poster contest, all youth, grades K-12 are encouraged to participate. Posters should be of an historical figure or event in Black History.

Posters should be attached to foam board so that they can be hung in the gallery. Each must contain students name, age, grade, school name, and contact info on the back.

Posters will hang at the Paris Academy until the first week of July and must be brought in to the Academy for judging on June 9-11 during open hours.

Prizes will be awarded to the winners of each category K-1, 2-4, 5-6, 7-9, 10-12. winners will be announced at a special  reception on June 12th from 2-4. The reception and contest will be part of a video to be released on Juneteenth (June 19th).

They are also looking for students interested in doing dramatic readings for the video.
