
Paris, Tenn.–Mary Buie, a UT Martin senior Family and Consumer Science Major, with a concentration in Food and Nutrition, has joined the Henry County Extension Staff for 10 weeks as a summer intern.
She joined the staff on May 21st through a paid internship through the University of Tennessee. She will be supervised by County Director and Family Consumer Services Agent, Michele Atkins throughout the summer. She is assisting with, and helping plan FCS classes throughout the summer which include canning classes, Take Charge of Your Diabetes classes, Arthritis Exercise classes, Matter of Balance classes and a summer youth “Teen Academy”, teaching basic life skills for teens, as well as participating in other program areas and regional events. Her internship will end July 29th, with a day on campus in Knoxville, presenting about her Extension experience.
Buie is a member of the Baptist Collegiate Ministry on the University of Tennessee at Martin campus. She enjoys meeting new people, trying new foods, and learning new activities. She is a graduate of Henry County High School and is the daughter of Charlie and Loan Buie of Paris.
