Camden, Tenn.–A popular landmark in Camden–the Country & Western Steakhouse–was heavily damaged by fire early this morning.
Camden Fire Chief Jeff Pierce told RadioNWTN that firefighters were called to the restaurant at 12:38 a.m. and found fire pouring out from the rear of the building. Firefighters remained on the scene until the wee hours this morning.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) will be on the scene later this morning, although Pierce said it does not appear there is anything suspicious about the fire.
The restaurant “is very, very, very heavily damaged,” Pierce said, “although they may be able to use some of the building in the future.”
Pierce said in the meantime, the Country & Western “will be sorely missed. Hopefully, they will be able to rebuild.”
The Country & Western is located at 189 Extension St.
