Trenton, Tenn.–Gibson Electric Membership Corporation’s Change for the Community Committee recently presented $7,200 to nonprofit organizations in Western Kentucky.
In October 2013, the former Hickman-Fulton Counties RECC launched the “Change for the Community” program, which has since awarded $118,770 to 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations in the area.
“We are very thankful for the generosity of our members who contribute to this important program,” states Debbie Weatherford, Gibson EMC Manager of Member Care. “Many opt to round up their electric bills to the next dollar and allow us to donate that “change” to support local nonprofit organizations,” Weatherford explains. “Our members’ kindness will make a significantly positive impact throughout the community,” she says.
Members can opt into or opt out of the Change for the Community program by calling their local Gibson EMC member service center.
Those 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations receiving funds in spring 2021 are: Carlisle County Extension Homemakers, Mission House, Alternative Resources for Kentuckians (ARK), Twin Cities Care, Mission House, Hickman County Senior Citizens, Senior Citizens of Fulton County, Inc., Carlisle County Senior Citizens, Clinton Hickman County Ambulance Service, Twin City Ambulance Service Inc., dba KenTenn EMS and the Hope Center.
Any 501(c)3 nonprofit organization desiring to apply for future Change for the Community funds should contact Debbie Weatherford at 270-236-2521. The next deadline is July 31, 2021.
