
UT Martin’s Alpha Upsilon Chapter of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity will honor AGR alumni who served in the Vietnam War as part of its annual Founders Day event. The formal recognition will be part of the Founders Day luncheon program and is scheduled for noon, Saturday, May 15, at the Martin Parks and Recreation Complex.
Seventeen Vietnam War veterans are scheduled to participate in a pinning ceremony that will be conducted by three retired generals who are UT Martin graduates: Dennis Cavin (U.S. Army), Ron Sholar (U.S. Army Airborne) and John “Glad” Castellaw (U.S. Marine Corps). In addition, Cynthia Kent, a writer for The Tennessee Magazine, will attend in support her book titled Better Men: Alpha Upsilon in Vietnam. The book includes interviews with fraternity members who served in Vietnam.
