Dyer Mayor Charged With Felony Theft

Dyer, Tenn.–Dyer Mayor Chris Younger is charged with felony theft over $2,500. He turned himself in to the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday.

According to a new release from the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office, Younger is accused of stealing money from an elderly Dyer citizen.

The investigation started in February after a report of the alleged theft.

According to the news release, District Attorney General Frederick Agee was made aware of the situation and a third-party investigator was asked interview the victim and potential witnesses in the matter. The investigator later reported the findings to the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office and the District Attorney’s office.

The news release states there is no indication the theft occurred while Younger was acting in his capacity as City Mayor.

Younger was released on bond. He will appear in Trenton General Sessions Court on March 23.
