Puryear, Tenn.–Thanks to a Plus Endowment grant and the hard work of teachers and students, a mobile food pantry has been installed at Harrelson School in Puryear.
The Plus Endowment grant was written by Kindergarten Teacher Amanda Allbritten with an eye toward doing something for the local community.
Harrelson Principal Maria Cox said the food pantry was constructed by the Henry County High School Patriot Woodshop and was installed by the school’s FFA members.
Cox said the school’s Beta Club will man the pantry and keep it stocked. “We already have items for the pantry, thanks to the grant. And we’ll send out a flyer to parents at the school informing them that the pantry is here and how to use it.”
The pantry is located on the west side of the building near the cafeteria.
Cox thanked Ms. Allbritten, the Harrelson FFA, the Patriot Woodshop, Beta Club, and Plus Endowment for the project coming together.
Harrelson School serves pre-K through 8th grade.
