Paris, Tenn.–The Paris-Henry County Arts Council is calling for all area artists to enter the 35th Artist Showcase. The show will be held March 27-April 24 at the W.G. Rhea Library, located at 400 W. Washington Street in Paris. It is open to all ages.
Last year’s event was abruptly cancelled due to the COVID outbreak, leaving artists with no place to exhibit their artwork.
“We hope our artist community will submit their works planned for that show or their latest creations. We are excited to see what has been made during the pandemic,” said Karen Sinn, president of the Arts Council.
The deadline for entries is quickly approaching. Registration must be received at the Arts Council office by Saturday, March 20. Artists may register online at www.phcarts.com under the “Events” tab or download the form from the same website and returned by the deadline date to P.O. Box 1045, Paris, TN. Complete rules and requirements are available on the website. There is a $10 registration fee for each entry.
Artist Showcase entries are divided into separate categories: ceramics, drawing, fiber, mixed media, painting, and sculpture. Prize money and ribbons will be awarded in each category plus Best Of Show recognition.
Art pieces will be received at the Rhea Library on Thursday, March 25, 2021, 3-5 pm, and Friday, March 26, 2021, 9-11 am. Due to COVID, no public reception will be held this year.
“This is an opportunity for the artists in the area to come together in a show that lets the community experience a wide variety of media and techniques,” said Sinn. “Past shows have seen creations of exceptional beauty and we expect to see more of that talent in this year’s showcase.”
For those who are unable to attend the show or are wary of public places due to COVID, a virtual tour created by Crove Media will be posted on the Arts Council’s website and linked to Facebook and other places like the Library and Chamber of Commerce’s sites.
In addition to the Arts Council, the event is sponsored by the Tennessee Arts Commission, Joe Mahan Ford, and Re/Max Cornerstone Real Estate.
