Dresden, Tenn.–Two Union City men have been arrested and a warrant has been issued for a third suspect in a string of burglaries in Weakley and Obion Counties.
Arrested are: Hunter Wherry, age 25, and Brandon Reinemann, age 32. An arrest warrant also has been issued for Jessica McCord. All three are from Union City.
While investigating a burglary that had occured February 27 in Sidonia (in Weakley County), Weakley County Sheriff’s Capt. Marty Plunk received information on March 3 that one of the firearms stolen in the burglary, an AR-15, was located in Obion County by Obion County Sheriff’s investigators.
Capt. Plunk, along with Obion County Investigators Angie Taylor and
Landon Kelly, were able to recover several firearms that had been stolen
from both counties.
Capt. Plunk said some were recovered in Trenton and some in Union City.
The investigators were aided by Special Agents Jeff Jackson and Ben Yates along with 27th Judicial District Drug Task Force Agent Andrew Kelly and Special Agent Chad Jackson with the 28th District Violent Crimes Task Force.
Capt. Plunk said, “We would like to remind our residents to be aware of strange vehicles in the communities and to remember to record your serial numbers of all
property that you can and keep those in a safe place. Taking photos of
your property is great as well. We just ask that people be vigilant in
their communities to something out of place. I do not recommend that
anyone approach someone that may be out of place. Call the Sheriff’s
Office or your local law enforcement agency and let them respond. It’s
better to be a good witness than a victim of something worse.”
