Murray, Ky.–Calloway County Judge-Executive Kenny Imes declared a state of emergency Sunday after heavy rains all day Sunday caused massive flooding in the county and extensive damage to roadways.

Imes said the emergency declaration was issued in order to initiate the process of receiving emergency funding to begin repairs. He will discuss the flooding issues caused in the Murray city limits today with city officials.

Calloway County law enforcement urged everyone to stay home yesterday and issued a list of roads that were impassable and closed, including the 700 block of Bailey Road which was totally washed away. Other roads that were impassable included Murray-Paris Road, Airport Road and the Hwy. 80 and 641 intersection.

Streets inside the Murray city limits also were underwater. A popular eatery in Murray, The Keg, will be closed for at least two days after flooding damaged the restaurant Sunday.
