
Numerous roadways in our area are closed after Sunday’s huge rainfall washed out culverts and roads.

In Henry County, County Road Superintendent Richie Chilcutt estimated between 4-6 inches of rain fell in the northern part of the county, washing out several roads.
Chilcutt and other highway department personnel were checking on road conditions early this morning. Roads that are closed include Jones Mill-Crossland Rd., Paschall Cemetery Rd, and Dale Cemetery Rd. He said several more roads in the county are down to one lane. The gates on Elkhorn Rd. at Holly Fork Creek are closed, he said.
“People traveling in the north part of the county need to be careful,” Chilcutt said. “That’s where a lot of our problems are today.”
A mudslide also was reported on Hwy. 140 in the Buchanan area, which is a state road.
In Obion County, flooding was widespread, closing Graham Park in Union City.
Several parts of South Fulton, Tenn., and Fulton, Ky. were underwater Sunday.
