
Dover, Tennessee— Fort Donelson National Battlefield is closed today, Monday, February 15.
Despite today being the 159th anniversary of the battle events leading up to the February 16, 1862 surrender of Fort Donelson, and of park rangers’ desire to be out on the park with visitors to interpret of the events – Safety comes first, and the battlefield is closed to access, with scheduled anniversary programs cancelled.
This closure is for the units of the Fort Donelson National Battlefield in Stewart County, Tennessee, and the Fort Heiman Unit in Calloway County, Kentucky.
Ice accumulations overnight have resulted in hazardous road conditions throughout the region. The entire area is under a Winter Storm Warning, significant snow accumulations are expected by evening. Travel is highly discouraged.
