According to the West Kentucky Fisheries officials, work conducted in Pisgah Bay in January was Part 1 of a research project organized by the USGS, and resulted in the removal of over 38,000 pounds of Asian carp. Part 2 of the research project will be conducted Feb. 8-24 in Smith Bay at Kentucky Lake. Smith Bay will be closed to boat traffic during this time. The goals of the project are to determine effectiveness of the Modified-Unified Method, response of tagged fish to nets and driving techniques, and testing the precision and accuracy of acoustic methods to measure fish abundance.
