Paris, Tenn.–The Save-A-Lot store in Paris will be closing.

Employees at the store were notified Wednesday that the store will be closing March 12, along with the Discount Tobacco outlet next door.

The Save-A-Lot store is owned by the Houchens Food Group of Bowling Green, Ky.

Local Store Manager Shelby McMurray told RadioNWTN that employees were called to a mandatory meeting Wednesday morning and the district manager and regional managers were on hand to notify employees of the pending closure of the store.

McMurray said there are 13 employees of Save-A-Lot and four employees at the Tobacco Outlet. “They didn’t tell us if other Save-A-Lot stores would be closing, too,” McMurray said.

The Save-A-Lot store has been a fixture in Paris for many years. The store was opened by the late Jim Adams, who passed away earlier this month. In 2001, Adams sold his holdings to numerous Save-A-Lot stores to the Houchens group in 2001.

Calls to the Houchens Food Group this morning were not returned. It is unclear whether other Save-A-Lot stores will be closing.
