Mansfield, Tenn.–Over 10 acres of woods were burned in a fire this morning in rural Mansfield in Henry County.

Mansfield Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Chief Darren Webb said his department and Forestry Service personnel responded to the fire on Travis Boyd Road around 6 a.m. this morning. As of 8:40 a.m., crews were still on the scene.

Webb said when crew arrived, the woods were on fire. “Not tall flames, probably about one foot flames, but the flames were traveling,” he said.

Cause of the fire has not been definitely established yet, but Webb said it appears the fire started in phone connection boxes.
