Paris, Tenn.– The West Tennessee High School Bass Nation will hold a fishing tournament for high school and junior high anglers in March of 2021 at Paris Landing State Park. The tournament will host 125-150 anglers who will compete in the tourney and will draw an estimated 600-700 people to the community.
The tournament was approved by the Henry County Tourism Authority, which met by email late last week. Approval was recommended by Henry County Mayor John Penn Ridgeway and Paris-Henry County Chamber Director Travis McLeese. Members agreed the tournament would be a plus for the community. Board Member Monte Starks said, “This will be a very good tournament to have in Henry County.”
In its application for Tourism Authority approval, Bass Nation officials requested $2,500 for marketing costs and noted that most of the anglers and their extended families will be staying in or around Paris before and during the tournament.
Bass Nation will be paying $3,500 in scholarships and prizes to the winning anglers.
