Dover, Tenn.–The public Wreaths Across America ceremony at Fort Donelson National Cemetery has been cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
However, both the American Legion, Douglas M. Lyons, Dover Post 72, and National Park Service are committed that the wreaths sponsored for the Fort Donelson National Cemetery will be placed on veterans’ graves.
Legion officials said so far 580 wreaths have been donated.
Wreaths will be placed with honor by a team consisting of representatives of the Fort Donelson Wreaths Across America committee and staff of the Fort Donelson National Cemetery.
Family members who sponsored a wreath for a loved one interred at Fort Donelson may arrive between noon and 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 19, to be given their wreath for placement.
Visitors are encouraged to visit the National Cemetery and pay respects while the wreaths are on display, from Sunday, December 20 through Tuesday, January 12, 2021, when the wreaths will be retrieved.
