Paris, Tenn.–Ice skating, a 30 foot inflatable slide, food trucks, a brass quintet, and of course, Santa Claus are all on the schedule for the Downtown Christmas Festival on Saturday, December 12th.

“We believe that we have made the necessary modifications to this event to provide people the opportunity to participate in the festivities and support our local businesses,” according to Downtown Paris Association Executive Director Travis McLeese.  “It is crucial that everyone be mindful of others and practice safe social distancing.”

The 30 foot by 40 foot synthetic ice skating rink will be located in the parking lot between Blythe Street and the Downtown Plaza. Normal capacity for the rink is 40 people, but out of an abundance of caution, only 15 skaters will be allowed at one time.

Participants will pay $10 each, which includes their skate rental, for a twenty minute session.  The rink will open at 10 AM and be available in thirty minute increments until 9 PM.  Face coverings are strongly encouraged and temperatures will be taken before participating. Reservations can be made by visiting lightupparistn.com.

“We encourage people to use the platform to reserve their time on the rink. With the need to limit our number of participants, and the number of phone calls we have already received, we look to fill those time slots quickly,” McLeese said. “We are thankful that Henry County Medical Center has stepped up and sponsored the skating rink.”

After a successful Christmas Open House, seven food trucks will return to the square.  Barnes Family Kettle Corn, Billy Guys Concession, Cash’s Wood Fired Pizza, Chick’n Cone of West Kentucky, Maria’s Mexican Food Truck and Perry’s BBQ.  Food trucks will be available for both lunch and dinner.

Located near the skating rink will be a 30 foot tall inflatable slide with free admission compliments of Nissan of Paris.

Santa’s House will be open for free pictures with Santa and his Elves from 10 AM-2 PM and 3 PM- 5 PM.  A dutch door has been installed on Santa’s house as a COVID precaution that will allow children to have their pictures taken without direct contact.

During the day, the Paris Brass will play on the courthouse steps at 10 AM and the Inman Middle School Band will play at 3:30.
