Stolen Vehicle Recovered, Paris Man Held After Pursuit

Paris, Tenn.–A Paris man is in jail and a vehicle stolen from Paris was recovered after a wild pursuit Friday night.

Joseph B. Coleman,a ge 45, of 2465 Hwy. 69S, is being held on $20,000 bond on charges of felony evading, reckless endangerment, theft, driving on suspended license and speeding.

According to the report by Henry County Sheriff’s Deputy Kyle Waldron, the Chevy Cobalt driven by Coleman reached speeds of 113 mph during the pursuit. The incident began as a traffic stop after Waldron attempted to pull Coleman over for a broken tail light. The pursuit occurred on the Hwy. 218 Bypass near Hwy. 54.

Coleman lost control of the vehicle in the area of Mockingbird Lane and drove into a ditch, went airborne and landed in a field. According to Waldron, Coleman kept driving through the field until the car broke down and then he fled on foot.

Deputies and Paris Police surrounded the area and Coleman was found hiding under a camper. He was taken into custody by Sgt. Blake Jenkins.
