Washington, D.C.–Multiple major news outlets have projected Democrat Joe Biden President Elect to become the 46th president of the United States, prompting celebrations in the streets of several American cities and prompting congratulatory messages from several world leaders. Outlets making this projection include Fox News, ABC News, CBS News, CNN and NBC News.
According to the networks, Biden crossed the needed 270 Electoral College threshold with the win in Pennsylvania. This ended a week of uncertainty as election officials continued to sort through mail-in votes that delayed processing of some ballots.
Biden will address the nation tonight.
Biden said Friday night in Delaware, “We have to remember the purpose of our politics isn’t total unrelenting, unending warfare. No, the purpose of our politics, the work of our nation, isn’t to fan the flames of conflict, but to solve problems, to guarantee justice, to give everybody a fair shot.”
