Dresden, Tenn.–At a special meeting Monday evening, the Weakley County Fiber Committee approved a resolution to bring broadband access to every rural citizen in the county. The resolution now goes before the Weakley County Commission when it meets at 5:30 p.m. Monday, November 16, at the Weakley County Courthouse.

In an invitation to the public to attend Monday night’s meeting, County Mayor Jake Bynum noted it was exactly a month ago that the Weakley County Commission rejected a resolution that would have approved broadband access.

“While we were disappointed by that decision, I understand the concerns these locals had,” Bynum said.  “I believe there is still a lot of misunderstanding of need in every corner of our community.”

The purpose of last night’s meeting was to share information from various sector leaders, as well as, allow citizens the opportunity to voice their opinions and concerns. Bynum urged citizens to contact their county commissioners on the proposal.
