Indictments Issued Against Three In Child, Animal Abuse Case

Paris, Tenn.–A total 38 people were indicted last week by the Henry County Grand Jury, including the three defendants in the child and animal abuse case from last June. The three were arrested after a child was found in a cage and numerous instances of animal abuse were found on their property on Dale Cemetery Road.

Their indictments were:

Thomas Brown, age 46, two counts aggravated child abuse, endangerment or neflect, child abuse or neglect, child endangerment, manufacture of marijuana, possession of a firearm, possession of a deadly weapon and cruelty to animals.

Heather Scarbrough, age 42, two counts of aggravated child abuse, neglect or endangerment, child abuse or neglect, child endangerment, manufacture of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and cruelty to animals.

Charles Edward Brown, age 83, was indicted on two counts of aggravated child abuse or neglect, child abuse or neglect, manufacture of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm during commission of a dangerous felony, unlawful possession of a weapon and cruelty to animals.

According to information released at the time of the arrests, the 18-month-old child is the son of Scarbrough and Thomas Brown.

Other indictments in unrelated cases included:

— Deshar Patton, age 30, of Jenkins St., Paris, aggravated assault, domestic assault, aggravated child abuse, child abuse, child endangerment and attempted second-degree murder. He was arrested for shaking his child and threatening the child during a domestic violence incident involving a woman.

–Kristen Warren, age 37, 110 Russwood Drive, Springville, three counts aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault, two counts aggravated rape, domestic assault, criminal responsibility for the actions of another.

–Eric Henry, Wynn St., Paris, two counts aggravated rape, three counts aggravated kidnapping, two counts aggravated assault.

–Sean Michael Barnett, Buchanan, two counts aggravated assault, two counts domestic assault, aggravated child abuse, child endangement.

–Corey Capps, W. Antioch Rd., Springville, coercion of witness, assault.

–Brandon Fisher, Copper Springs Rd., Springville, domestic assault, keeping victim from calling 911, vandalism.

–Jerry Clayton, Macedonia Rd., Henry, aggravated assault and domestic assault.

–Donald Curry, Hastings Lane, Mansfield, aggravated assault.

As usual, the bulk of the indictments involved burglary/robbery and DUI/drug cases.
