Dresden, Tenn.–Republican Tandy Darby handily defeated Independent Jeff Washburn to win the post of 76th District State Representative Tuesday.
Darby thanked the voters for the turnout Tuesday and said, “I’d like to thank everyone for the outpour of support over the last several months as I took a leap of faith into representing the people around me. I found myself much more interested in being a part of the solution, and that’s why I decided to run. There is so much at stake to watch from the sidelines.
“I want to say a special thank you to my wife, Kasi, all three of our girls, and our family that have been pushing me to knock on more doors, make more phone calls, and listen to more voters.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to represent my neighbors, and I assure you that every day I will wake up ready to work for the district,” Darby said.
Washburn said in a statement, “I want to congratulate Tandy Darby, and I will stand with him.”
