
Paris and Union City, Tenn.–Records were broken in Henry and Obion County as both counties topped 50 percent of registered voters turning out during the Early Voting period. Early voting in Tennessee ended Thursday.
In Henry County, 10,692 people voted in-person and by absentee ballot, making 51.08 percent of registered voters who turned out to vote. A total 824 voted Thursday.
Elections Administrator DeLaina Green said, “That’s the most we’ve ever had vote during Early Voting, ever.”
Henry County’s high turnout was driven by several high-profile contested races, including County Mayor, County Sheriff and Paris City Commission.
In Obion County, Elections Administrator Leigh Schlager said 9,610 people voted overall, or 50 percent of all registered voters. A total 635 turned out on Thursday, including both in-person and absentee.
On Election Day, November 3, voting will take place at the regular polling places in each county.
