
Turnout for Early Voting in Tennessee is setting records, both statewide and in our area.
At the Henry County Elections Commission, turnout was steady “all day long”, with people standing in line all the way out the door. Elections Administrator DeLaina Green said, “We’re definitely breaking more records with this election.”
There were 1,100 in-person voters Wednesday on the first day of Early Voting in Henry County, for a total 1,733 which includes absentee voters.
In Obion County, Elections Administrator Leigh Schlager reported the first day total was “exactly 1,000 in-person.”
According to information released by the Tennessee Secretary of State’s office, totals for other area counties for Wednesday were (both in-person and absentee):
Carroll County: 1,048
Benton County: 751
Dyer County: 1,724
Gibson County: 1,856
Stewart County: 677
Weakley County: 1,363
With 93 of 95 counties reporting, statewide totals for Wednesday were: 273,325, with 167,094 of that total from absentee ballots.
As always, early voting is held at each county’s Election Commission offices.
