Dyersburg, Tenn.–A woman in a wheelchair was robbed Thursday afternoon in Dyersburg. Police charged a 16-year-old Dyersburg teen with criminal attempt to commit aggravated robbery, and criminal impersonation after the teen’s real identity was discovered. He was using his brother’s identity during the attempted robbery, in which he used a BB gun.

Thursday, around 1:00 p.m., Dyersburg police responded to Tucker Street in reference to an attempted robbery. Police arrived and spoke with the 60-year-old victim, who reported that she was getting out of her car and into her wheelchair when she was approached by six male juveniles.

One of the juveniles approached her and asked if she needed any help. The victim said she was fine and declined. The juvenile then allegedly told her he was going to take her purse. The victim attempted to get away from the youth when he said he would shoot her.

The victim yelled for help, and all six juveniles fled the area on foot.

Other responding officers were able to locate some of the juveniles in the area. After a brief foot pursuit, the juveniles were detained for questioning.

The juvenile was transported to juvenile detention pending Juvenile Court action. The weapon used during the robbery was determined to be a BB pistol.
