
Mayfield, Ky.–A Mayfield woman and her four children were injured and their pet pig was killed in a rollover crash Wednesday afternoon.
At 3 p.m. Wednesday, the Graves County Sheriff’s Office, Kentucky State Police, and Mayfield/Graves County EMS were dispatched to the 3000 block of KY-58 East for a single vehicle collision with injuries.
Deputy Marcus Burnett’s investigation of the collision showed that Krystle Harris, age 35 of Mayfield, was travelling east on state route 58 East with her four children in the vehicle.
Harris veered into the westbound lane meeting a semi head on.
Harris corrected and travelled off of the roadway to the right, striking a concrete culvert. The impact would cause the vehicle to flip a number of times, finally coming to rest on the south side of the highway on its driver side.
Harris sustained a head injury during the collision. The passengers, (Anthony Harris 16, Jordan Harris 12, Sophia Gamble 10, Rayne Gamble 14) received minor, non-life threatening injuries. All occupants were treated on scene by Mayfield/ Graves EMS and transported to Jackson Purchase Medical Center.
This portion of KY-58 East was shut down for a period of about an hour while the scene was cleared.
A pet swine inside the vehicle was ejected in the rollover and died at the scene.
Deputy Burnett was assisted on scene by Sheriff Jon Hayden, Captain Jeremy Prince, Sgt. Richard Edwards, Deputy Chris Mensinger, KSP Trooper Adam Jones, Mayfield/ Graves County EMS, Mayfield/ Graves County FD, Mayfield/ Graves County Rescue Squad, and Graves County Emergency Management.
