Paris, Tenn.–Henry County Mayor Brent Greer has extended the county masking
requirement order another seven days through Sunday, September 27th. The existing
order was set to expire this Sunday evening at midnight.
Tennessee Governor Bill Lee signed Executive Order #59 on August 29th which continues to provide 89 rural Tennessee counties, including Henry County, the option to
issue local masking requirements through September 30 to reduce the spread of
COVID-19.
Henry County Mayor BrentGreer said, “ County positive case numbers continue to
remain flat averaging 7.7 cases reported each day for the past seven days. 15 positive cases were reported today (Sept 18). Presently, the county has 61 active COVID19 cases, which is down a few from this time last week. The State Dept of Health is reporting nine total deaths for Henry County with one death occurring at our local hospital.”
Local healthcare professionals continue to support wearing a mask in public spaces
to slow the spread of COVID-19 in our county.
Henry County Medical Center reported eight COVID-19 inpatients are currently being treated with another four inpatients awaiting test results. Henry County continues to be in the “Yellow Zone” on the White House Task Force Report Map which indicates a positive case rate between 5-10
percent.
Greer adds, “With Governor Lee relaxing some restrictions on nursing home
visits beginning next month, upcoming high school sports, and fall community activities, it is important to continue to mask up for our the health of our community.”
The Henry County Health Dept continues to provide free COVID testing Monday – Friday from 8:30AM to 10:30 AM by appointment only.
