Henry Co. Slate Of Municipal Candidates Set For November Election

Paris, Tenn.–With today’s noon deadline for returning petitions, the slate of municipal candidates for the November 3 general election has been set.

Among other races, there will be a Henry Mayor’s race, with two candidates announcing their candidacy. There also will be a race for Paris City Commission, with four candidates vying for two seats.

Long-time Paris City Commissioner Terry Fuller will not be seeking reelection, leaving one Incumbent, Jackie Jones, on the list of candidates for the two open commission seats. In addition to Jones, those running for commission are former BPU General Manager John Etheridge, Herbert “Earl” Kendall, and James Wyatt.

In Cottage Grove, Gary McCaig is running for Mayor, with current Mayor David Jackson and John Weiher III running for aldermen.

In Henry, Dane Allen and Dustin Odom are competing for the Mayor post, with Faye Lowery, Charles and Charlotte Barnes, Cindy Rainey, and Keith Qualls running for aldermen.

In Puryear, Mayor David Varner will be seeking reelection, with Bill Robinson and Rebecca Haynes running for aldermen and Recorder Verla Smith seeking reelection.

The deadline for the positions of Henry County Mayor and County Sheriff is noon September 9. Already taking out petitions for the County Mayor position are John Penn Ridgeway, Paris Mayor Carlton Gerrell and Shaun M. Poole. Former State Rep. Tim Wirgau earlier announced his intention of running for the post, but he has yet to pick up his petitions.

Already taking out petitions for the County Sheriff post are Chief Deputy Damon Lowe and Paris Police Lt. Josh Frey.

One individual, Daniel Boudrie has taken out petitions for both the County Mayor and County Sheriff positions.
