Paris, Tenn.–Paris Police Lt. Josh Frey has announced his intention to run for the office of Henry County Sheriff.
Frey has lived in Henry County all his life and has 23 years experience in law enforcement and is a member of the Henry County Schools board of education. Frey noted he comes from a family of ‘dedicated public servants’ and he has sought to follow in those footsteps.
He began his career in 1997 as a Corrections Officer for the Henry County Sheriff’s Office and in 1999 was hired by the Paris Police Department. At the Paris PD, he has worked in many roles, including patrol, K9 patrol, investigations, special operations, and patrol lieutenant.
“I feel my personal and professional life have prepared me to hold the office of Henry County Sheriff,” he said.
The following is Frey’s statement:
“To the Citizens of Henry County:
My name is Josh Frey, and I would like to take this time to announce my intent to run for the public office of Henry County Sheriff.
“As a lifelong Henry Countian, I am excited to make this announcement. My wife, Kelly, and I are active members of Henry County, and we have encouraged our four children, Ethan, Blake, Stormie, and Aiden to be active in the community as well. Over the last several years, I have coached youth sports including football, soccer, and baseball. I am currently a board member of Mary’s Kids, a non-profit organization that helps families in need during Christmas time. I am also a current Henry County School Board member.
“I am part of a family of dedicated public servants. My father worked for the Henry County Ambulance Service and Henry County Sheriff’s Office for over 30 years. My stepfather is a former Henry County Sheriff and my great grandfather was General Sessions Judge.
“A 1994 graduate of Henry County High School, I completed law enforcement training in 1999 at the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy. Since that time, I have completed several specialized classes related to law enforcement, many of which have been leadership classes.
“I have 23 years of law enforcement experience at varying levels. In 1997, I began my career working for the Henry County Sheriff’s Department as a corrections officer. In 1999, I was hired by the Paris Police Department. My service at the Paris Police Department has given me the opportunity to experience many roles including patrol, K-9 patrol, investigations, special operations leader, and currently, patrol lieutenant. I feel my personal and professional life have prepared me to hold the office of Henry County Sheriff.
“As we all know, this country is in trying times, but I am proud to call Henry County my home. If given the opportunity to serve as your sheriff, I will:
- Stand dedicated, honest, and fair
- Hold a progressive approach to support our community
- Remain accessible and accountable
I would appreciate your support and your vote as the next Henry County Sheriff.”
