
Dover, Tenn.–A Nashville man is in the Stewart County Jail on multiple charges, including striking deputies’ patrol cars during a pursuit and driving into oncoming traffic.
Steven Parrott, age 29, was arrested after what began as a routine traffic stop turned into a dangerous pursuit.
Stewart County Deputy Caleb Rozet observed a suspicious vehicle with improper registration being displayed at the Rise and Shine Market on Hwy 149 Monday night.
According to the press release, when he attempted to stop the vehicle the driver refused to pull over traveling towards Kizer Ridge. The vehicle ran into a ditch and before Deputy Rozet could approach the vehicle it pulled from the ditch and turned around forcing Deputy Rozet to leave the road to avoid being struck head on.
The vehicle then headed back to Hwy 149 where it went into the oncoming traffic. During the pursuit the vehicle struck Sgt. Sam Mills patrol vehicle before turning sideways and striking Deputy Rozet.
After striking the patrol units the vehicle was finally stopped and the driver forcefully removed from the vehicle. Neither deputies was injured. The driver Steven Parrott of Nashville was found to be in possession of meth, drug paraphernalia and was driving under the influence. Parrott was charged with multiple charges, including aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest and evading police, as well as being on parole from the State of Tennessee.
