Graves County, Ky.–A Graves County man is in jail for receiving stolen property from Illinois.

Deputies from Johnson County, IL Sheriff’s Department contacted the Graves County Dispatch center at approximately 10:10 a.m. Saturday. They requested deputies be on the look out for a white truck pulling a green trailer. They reported that the trailer had been stolen that morning in their jurisdiction. They had made a traffic stop on a white truck pulling a trailer this morning however, the trailer had not been reported stolen at that time.

Deputy Chris Mensinger and Sgt. Dale Mason went to an area they knew the suspect was known to live. Upon arrival Deputy Mensinger saw William David Weaks with his white truck and a green trailer.

When Deputy Mensinger was able to turn around and go back, Weaks was no longer in sight. Deputy Mensinger noticed fresh tracks leading around a soybean field and wooded area. Deputy Mensinger and Sgt. Mason located Weaks parking the truck and trailer well out of sight.

William David Weaks was arrested and charged with Knowingly Receiving Stolen Property over $500 but less than $10,000 and lodged in the Graves County Jail. The trailer was seized and will be returned to it’s rightful owner.
