Dresden, Tenn.–With help from the U.S. Marshall’s Service, a Martin man was arrested on charges of especially aggravated kidnapping, especially aggravated burglary and theft after he broke into a house near Dresden and held a teenage girl.
Brandon Ray Stewart, age 35, is in the Weakley County Jail after he was tracked by a K9 through a wooded area. Stewart had fled a traffic stop on foot the night before.
At 12:31 p.m. today, a 911 call was received by the Weakley County 911 Center that someone had broken into a house on Chicken Road east of Dresden and that a teenage girl was in the house.
Investigators arrived to find the suspect had run from the house in an unknown direction. While in the house, he ate food, changed clothes and made the teenager make a phone call.
Investigators knew the phone number that was called to be the one used by the fiance of Stewart, who had run from Deputy Gary Eddings the night before on Hwy. 22.
Captain Randall McGowan said the teenage girl identified Stewart as the man who broke in her house when she was shown a photo of him.
Clothes that were taken were found in a wooded area near the house. Agents from the U.S. Marshal’s Gulf Coat Regional Fugitive Task Force arrived at the scene with a tracking dog and about 4:30 p.m., Stewart was located 1/2 a mile from the house.
