Paris, Tenn.–In a collaborative effort between PARIS! Magazine and the Paris-Henry County Chamber of Commerce, the fall magazine cover showcases nine local individuals in face masks to raise awareness of the “Mask Up Henry County” Campaign.

“This is the first time in PARIS! Magazine’s history that it worked in conjunction with another group to produce a specific cover,” according to Smantha Parker, publisher of PARIS!

“We teamed up with the Paris-Henry Chamber of Commerce to emphasize the importance of the Mask Up Henry County campaign. It will take all of us to protect our residents from COVID-19,” said Karen Geary, graphic designer for PARIS!

The “Mask-Up” Campaign was developed by the Henry County COVID Response Team and was led by Carlton Gerrell, Mayor of Paris; Tory Daughrity, Director of Marketing for Henry County Medical Center; Travis McLeese, CEO of the Chamber of Commerce; and Kasey Muench, Community Relations Director for the Chamber.

Created to assist with communicating the positive effects of masking and its importance in the battle with COVID-19, the campaign consisted of a “Mask of the Day” contest where participants win local gift cards throughout the month of August, videos, social media content, print, radio and billboard ads. In addition to a federal grant, this project was financially supported by the city and county government, Henry County Medical Center and the Chamber.

Cover photo participants are Linda Searcy, Ollie McLeese, Jack Spencer, Calvin Martin, Jawon Odom, Alyssa Wade, Allene Fitzsimmons, Charlotte McCuistion, and Kenneth Humphreys.

Through the “Mask Up” Campaign, 10,000 custom masks were produced for the community. The first shipment was released to the public last week, with the larger shipment becoming available to the public on Friday, August 14th. They will be available at the Chamber of Commerce, Paris City Hall, Paris Pediatrics, and Eagle Creek Clinic while supplies last.

“We are happy to help,” McLeese said. “Masks are a controversial topic, but our goal was to keep the message positive, support our local officials making these difficult decisions, and help our community through this challenging time. We hope that through these efforts, we can assist our healthcare community as they manage the medical needs of our region.”

The COVID Response team consists of Henry County Mayor Brent Greer, Ron Watkins, Kim Foster, Carlton Gerrell, Dr. Scott Whitby, Lisa Casteel, Tory Daughrity, Rob Whitfield, Monte Belew, Chuck Elizondo, Dr. Leah Watkins, Dr. Norma Gerrell, Neely Ashby, Tracy Byrd, and Travis McLeese.

PARIS! will be available August 15th at the following locations: Paris-Henry County Chamber of Commerce, All Temp Heating & Cooling, Edward Jones, Foundation Bank, HCMC, Moody Realty, Cornerstone Re/Max, West Tennessee Bone & Joint Clinic, and Coast To Coast Tinting.
