UC Schools Distance Learning Training Set

uc-schools

By Mike Hutchens, UC Schools Communications Director

Training for those Union City Schools students who’ve signed up for Distance Learning to begin the 2020-21 school year will be held Friday at the Union City Civic Auditorium.

The training — which will be directed by UC School System IT personnel — is a requirement before students can be enrolled in the program. Students must have registered in advance for the service. They will be allowed to bring one parent to the session.

Training times are as follows:

  • UCES Students/Parents – 9-10 a.m.
  • UCMS Students/Parents – 10-11 a.m.
  • UCHS Students/Parents – 11a.m.-Noon.

Students will be allowed to use their own laptop. A laptop will be issued to those in Grades 5-12 in the future if they do not own their own, however.

The school-issued laptop is a loaner, not a gift, and the student and a parent will be required to sign a release before ultimately being issued the computer. Both students and parents will also have to sign an Internet safety policy as well.

UC Schools is still waiting on the arrival of 800 laptops, thus laptop carts will be used for training purposes.

Principals, along with Union City Schools Assistant Director of Schools Michael Paul Miller, will be on hand to answer questions.

Social distancing will be practiced and masks will be available.
