Hummingbird Programs At LBL Nature Station In August

hummingbird-lbl

Golden Pond, Kentucky–Even though the Hummingbird Festival is cancelled this year, no one told the hummingbirds!
August brings over 250 ruby-throated hummingbirds a day to the Woodlands Nature Station, and the Friends of Land Between the Lakes invite you to come witness this natural spectacle for yourself during Hummingbird Month.
Hummingbirds use Land Between the Lakes as one of their main corridors for migration as they travel 1,082 miles to Central America! Check out the spectacle of their migration any day in August and watch these busy birds have a feeding frenzy in our backyard gardens. Also, enjoy artwork by local artists and photographers, check out informative hummingbird displays and programming and take part in our photo contest. Woodlands Nature Station is inside Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area, 3146 Silver Trail Road, Cadiz, Kentucky 42211. Admission is $7 for ages 18 and up; $5 for ages 5 – 17; and free for ages 4 and under.
Programming includes:
Month of August – Nature Station Hummingbird Photo Contest
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10:30 am – Hummingbird Hangout
Wednesdays, 11:30 am – The Science of Hummingbirds
Saturdays, 9 am – Exclusive Early Morning Access (reservations required, call 270-924-2020 to register)
