
The Union City High School boys’ golf team opened its 2020 season Tuesday by besting host South Fulton at the Fulton Country Club, according to a news release.
The Tornadoes fired a 190 — 17 strokes better than the Red Devils.
Carter Walton was the match medalist with a 45 for the Purple and Gold. Mason Reed shot 46 and Hayden Searcy came in with a 48. Both Nolan Chandler and Gabriel Qualls finished with 51s.
Though the SF girls did not field a squad, UC had three players get in some valuable practice time.
Addi Hooks shot 56, while teammates Olivia Tanner (62) and Julianne Becton (65) also played nine holes.
Union City golfers will play their opening home match Thursday at Poplar Meadows Country Club, hosting South Fulton.
