
Edwin Joseph Hogg Jr., 55, of Samburg, and Nakeia Shakiece Smith, 27, of Union City were sentenced in separate cases to federal prison on drug related charges.
Edwin Hogg Jr. is serving a 14-month sentence in federal prison for being a Felon in Possession of Firearm stemming from a traffic stop conducted by the Obion County Sheriff’s Office. During a search of the vehicle, Deputies discovered a Ruger 10-22 semi-automatic rifle inside the vehicle and 1.3 grams of methamphetamine on his person. Hogg pled guilty to the firearm charge on January 10, 2020, and he was sentenced on June 19, 2020 to 14 months imprisonment followed by 3 years of supervised release.
Nakeia Smith is now serving an 18-month sentence in federal prison for Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine, Cocaine Base, and Cocaine. During a search of Ms. Smith’s residence, Investigators with the Obion County Sheriff’s Office and Fulton County Ky Sheriff’s Office, found a locked safe inside the defendant’s bedroom containing 44.19 grams of Cocaine, 6.21 grams of Crack Cocaine, 1.45 grams of Methamphetamine, Digital Scales, 7 Amphetamine pill, and a Smith & Wesson .45 caliber handgun.
On December 11, 2019, Nakeia Smith pled guilty to one count of possessing with intent to distribute methamphetamine, cocaine base, and cocaine. On June 16, 2020, the defendant was sentenced to 18 months in a federal prison followed by 3 years of supervised release.
There is no parole in the federal system.
