Dover, Tenn.–Multiple Stewart County Emergency Medical Services employees have tested positive for COVID-19.

According to a press release issued by the Stewart County Emergency Management Agency, the positive employees are currently in isolation and will not return to work until they have fully recovered. EMS conducted and received results of a mass testing on July 17 for all personnel.

Although EMS personnel have been wearing masks when conducting patient care for several months, they will now wear masks while at the station and in the ambulance.

A professional service conducted a decontamination and cleaning of all three EMS buildings. EMS continues to decontaminate the ambulance after each call and monitor employees’ temperatures and for symptoms of COVID-19. Currently, all three EMS stations are operational and serving the citizens of Stewart County.

TN Department of Health is responsible for conducting contact tracing to notify those who may have been in contact with a positive EMS employee.

As of 2 p.m. on July 19, there are 78,115 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Tennessee. For more information, visit www.cdc.gov.
