Lone Oak, Ky.–A Mayfield man was arrested on several charges after a chase that resulted in an accident and struggle with law enforcement.
John E. West, age 38, was charged with fleeing and evading; wanton endangerment; DUI, resisting arrest, possession of open alcoholic beverage container and multiple traffic offenses. He is lodged in the McCracken County Regional Jail.
At approximately 6:45 p.m. Saturday evening, the Kentucky State Police received a complaint of a reckless driver traveling on US HWY 45. Trooper Justin Rundles spotted the white 2018 Chevrolet pickup truck and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.
The vehicle failed to stop and accelerated away from Trooper Rundles, turning onto KY 1241 and heading north. As the vehicle approached US HWY 45 in Lone Oak, the driver failed to negotiate a curve, traveled off the roadway and down an embankment. After a brief struggle with law enforcement officers, the driver was taken into custody.
