Turnout High For Early Voting

Paris and Union City, Tenn.–The turnout is good as voters are showing up for the early voting period, which began Friday and runs through August 1.

In Henry County, the total voter turnout so far is 527, which is broken down this way: Democrat, 180; Republican 331; General Election 16.

In Obion County, Elections Administrator Leigh Schlager reported 294 total voters for both Friday and Saturday. “The first day we did 253 and today we voted 41 with a total of 294 for both days.  Our breakdown is as follows:  239 Republican, 50 Democrat and 5 General,” she said.

Early voting is held at County Election Commission offices, with Henry County’s located on Grove Hill in the former Weston Hall Building. The address is 215 Grove Blvd., Suite B.

In Henry County, early voting hours are: M-W-F, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; T-Th 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to noon.

The Obion County Elections Office is at 308 Bill Burnett Circle, Union City. In Obion County, early voting hours are: M-F, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday 9-noon.

Election Day is Thursday, August 6, at which time voting will take place at the various polling places in each county.

COVID-19 Safety protocols including disposable gloves, disposable pens, hand sanitizing stations, etc. are in place at elections offices.
