Dyer County, Tenn.–Effective at 11:59 p.m. Monday, July 20, wearing face masks will be required in Dyer County.

Dyer County Mayor Chris Young has issued a Declaration of Public Health Emergency, noting the numbers of active COVID-19 cases in Dyer and surrounding counties. In Dyer County, the latest numbers are: 358 confirmed cases; 151 recovered; 3984 negative cases and three deaths.

The mayor’s declaration notes that a consensus from the local school superintendents and municipalities’ mayors was reached on the issue and that it was determined that ‘immediate action’ was necessary.

According to the declaration, the requirement does not apply to persons under the age of 21, to persons who cannot safety wear face coverings because of underlying health conditions; and that the mask is not required outdoors, inside private residences and industry, while eating or drinking, while engaging in strenuous activity.
