Union City, Tenn.–Union City High School girls’ basketball coach Chuck Reedy has resigned that position, effective immediately.

Reedy, who spent two seasons at the Lady Tornado helm after serving seven years as an assistant in the program, will remain as the Maintenance Supervisor and Director of Transportation in the UC School System.

Assistant coach Paige McMillan has been named the interim head coach and will oversee day-to-day operations until a permanent head coach is named.

Reedy, who led the UC girls to regional tournament berths in both his campaigns and compiled a 33-30 record during that time, said this morning after a team meeting: “It’s in the best interest of the program and my best interest personally to step away at this time.

“The program is in good shape and I feel like it’s headed in the right direction. The road is paved for the girls to achieve some pretty special accomplishments if they continue to work hard like they have been. I certainly wish them the best.”

UC High School Principal Jacob Cross and Athletic Director Shane Sisco will begin the search for Reedy’s replacement immediately. Cross commended the now former coach for his commitment to the program during his time on the bench.

“For the past several years, no one has been a bigger advocate for UCHS girls’ basketball than Coach Reedy.  He has been truly dedicated to this program and given his all for the Lady Tornadoes,” the top UCHS administrator said.

Union City will return its top two players (Amari Bonds and Jada Williams) from last year’s 21-win team that won a regional tournament game for the first time since the program’s 2013-14 Class 1A unbeaten state championship season.
