Graves Co. Man Faces Numerous Charges After Chase Into Calloway Co.

Calloway County, Ky.–A Graves County man was arrested after a wild chase that took law enforcement into Calloway County and which resulted in the suspect crashing his motorcycle and taking off on foot into a nearby body of water.

Derek F. Brown, age 37, is facing numerous charges in both counties. Those charges include drug charges after quantities of crystal meth were seized.

The incident began around 1 p.m. Sunday when Graves Sheriff’s Deputy Zach Smith observed a motorcycle disregard a stop sign at the end of Hwy. 131 and nearly hit an SUV at the intersection.

According to the press release, the motorcycle sped away refusing to stop. Pursuit went south on Byrd Rd, south on Puryear Rd, east then south on Williams Ln, east on Golo Rd, south on Brittan Ln, east on 464 into Calloway. Continued east on 464, north on 1836, made a U turn at Mt Olive Rd, south 1836, East 464, south 299, East 121, South Lawson Rd, West Jones Sparkman Rd which turned into Old Lynn Grove Rd.

Upon entering Calloway County, Calloway County sheriff’s deputies took over the lead in attempts to get the driver stopped. After crashing the motorcycle, Brown ran up towards a residence on foot.

Deputy’s pursued suspect on foot, into a deep body of water. He was then taken into custody.

Brown was transported to Murray Calloway County Hospital, and later was lodged at the Calloway County Jail.
