Dresden, Tenn.–Weakley County farmers paid their respects to the late Terry Oliver of Dresden, former Tennessee Commissioner of Agriculture, by lining the funeral procession route with 55 tractors Tuesday.

Farmers left their fields to honor Oliver, who was a fellow farmer in addition to a state official. As the funeral procession drove by on the way to Dresden First Baptist Church, they placed their hands over their hearts.

Oliver was a huge supporter of the FFA and FFA students and advisors from Gleason, Greenfield, Westview in Martin and Dresden High Schools also participated.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Terry Oliver FFA Foundation or Dresden First United Methodist Church. All funds donated to the FFA Foundation will be used to help active FFA members in the Weakley County School System, providing financial assistance to students in need for purchase of FFA jackets and attendance of the FFA convention. The Terry Oliver FFA Foundation account is set up at Simmons Bank in Dresden.
