Paris, Tenn.–Wednesday evening’s severe storm and heavy rainfall caused damage to several Henry County roadways, with at least five roads cut in half with culverts being washed out.

County Road Superintendent Richie Chilcutt and road crews are still out today checking for more damage.

Roads that are shut down due to culvert washouts are Robert Barnhill Rd., Reuben Rd, Rowe School Rd, Hart Farm Rd and Parkhill Rd. A bridge on Rowe School Rd also is out.

“Most of the damage seems to be north and northwest of Paris,” Chilcutt said Thursday morning. “We’ve had a lot of trees down and we had roads underwater. We also had numerous shoulders washed out and roads down to one lane. But the big damage we had was the washed out culverts and like I said, they just completely cut some of these roads in two.”

Highway department crews were out late last night and are back at it again this morning. Chilcutt asked if anyone in the county is aware of road damage to call the sheriff’s office at 731 642 1672 and they will relay the message to Chilcutt and the road crews.
