Paris, Tenn.–A former Henry County Schools teachers’ assistant was sentenced to three years with the Department of Corrections on a charge of sexual battery.
Jaylon Shamar Bennett, age 19, of Paris, pleaded guilty to having inappropriate sexual contact with a minor during a hearing Wednesday in Henry County Circuit Court.
Judge Donald Parish ordered that Bennett will be sentenced to 126 days continuous confinement with the remainder on supervised probation. He also was ordered to register on the state’s sexual offender registry.
Bennett was arrested by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office in November of 2019, charged originally with sexual exploitation of a minor by electronic means.
