
Huntingdon, Tenn.–Huntingdon Director of Public Safety Walter Smothers has been appointed to the Board of Directors for the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police beginning in August for the year 2020-2021.
The Association has 12 districts across the state and Smothers will be representing District 11 which is comprised of the following counties: Carroll, Weakley, Gibson, Obion, Lake, Dyer and Crockett.
Smothers said, “In this difficult time for our nation and for law enforcement the TACP is taking the lead to develop a model for law enforcement in our state that will accommodate change while meeting the needs of officer protection and the protection of our citizens. I plan to contribute every possible effort to help this great organization move ahead as we navigate into, what is now, an uncertain future.”
