
Humphreys County, Tenn.–A man found floating in the Buffalo River in Humphreys County June 6 has been identified as a 65-year-old Benton County man who had been reported missing. His death has been deemed suspicious by law enforcement.
According to a press release issued by the Humphreys County Sheriff’s Office, a body was found half-submerged in the Buffalo River along Cuba Landing Road near the bridge June 6.
The sheriff’s office and TBI responded and have been conducting a joint death investigation to determine the identification of the man and the cause of death.
The body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s office for autopsy and the man has been identified as Gregory Brantley, who had been missing from Benton Co.
According to the press release, it is believed that the body had been in the water since the evening of June 3. The cause and manner of death is still undetermined but it has been classified as suspicious.
The case is under investigation by the Humphreys and Benton County Sheriff’s Offices and anyone who saw any activity in that area is asked to call law enforcement.
